During your visit, explore the iconic monuments along the beautiful National Mall as well as the city’s vibrant neighborhoods filled with character and charm. There’s no shortage of entertainment, from outstanding shopping to the wonders of free museums to can’t-miss theater to outdoor playgrounds like Rock Creek Park. DC’s renowned dining scene is filled with culinary talent and variety, a fact proven by annual Michelin Guide treatment.
Day 1
An inspiring visit to our nation's capital begins with a comfortable motor coach ride around the southern end of Lake Michigan and across Indiana. Our first night out will be spent in the Perrysburg, OH area at the Holiday Inn Express.
Day 2
We will arrive at our accommodations in Washington D.C., at the Holiday Inn National Mall for the next four nights. This evening we travel back into the district to enjoy several of our nation's monuments as they are beautifully illuminated.
B, LDay 3
Enjoy a full day of sightseeing with a licensed guide. Highlights will include the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, Vietnam Memorial, the World War II Memorial and much more. This evening we will enjoy dinner on the shores of the Potomac River.
B, DDay 4
At Arlington National Cemetery, America honors the men and women who have valiantly served the nation and given the ultimate sacrifice. We will view the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Visit the gravesites of John F. Kennedy, his wife Jacqueline and Brother Robert. This morning we travel along the Parkway to Mount Vernon for a visit to George Washington's home. Set on a picturesque spot along the Potomac River, it is difficult to believe that Washington could have ever left it for years at a time. Our tour will include a stop at the gravesites of George and Martha Washington. After lunch, we travel back to the district where you will begin your free time to explore the capital city.
B, LDay 5
Enjoy a complete FREE day for independent exploration of the area. Perhaps you can return to the Smithsonian Institution's many museums along the Mall. Another popular choice might be the National Zoo to see the world-famous pandas. Visit the Washington Cathedral or the Basilica Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Or arrange to have a meeting with your Senate or Congressional representatives (prior to departure). Historical Alexandria is just a short subway ride away too with wonderful shops and restaurants.
B, LDay 6
Later we begin our journey westward through Maryland to our accommodations back at the Holiday Inn Express in Perrysburg, OH.
B, LDay 7
We continue our travels through Ohio and Indiana as we return to more familiar territory. Bidding farewell to our fellow travelers, we arrive home with our memories of historic Washington DC.
