Day 1

Your inspiring visit to our nation's capital begins with a comfortable motorcoach ride as we travel around the scenic southern edge of Lake Michigan and across the heartland of Indiana. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the changing landscapes, lively conversation, and anticipation of the days ahead. As evening approaches, we'll arrive in the Toledo South/Maumee area, where you'll check in for an overnight stay at the welcoming Hampton Inn & Suites. Settle in, enjoy nearby dining options, and rest up for the exciting journey ahead.

Day 2

As we travel toward the nation's capital, enjoy the scenic views, lively conversation, and the excitement of the days to come. Upon arrival in Washington, D.C., we'll check in at the Holiday Inn National Mall, our home for the next five nights. Located conveniently near the National Mall, this comfortable hotel offers easy access to the city's most iconic sites. After a brief rest, we'll return to the district for an included dinner at a local restaurant, where you can enjoy a delicious meal in the heart of the city. As evening settles in, we'll embark on a twilight tour of Washington's most cherished monuments. Experience the awe-inspiring Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, World War II Memorial, and more, all beautifully illuminated against the night sky. This peaceful and moving tour is a perfect way to begin your stay in the nation's capital.

Day 3

We'll spend the day exploring Washington, D.C. with the expertise of a licensed guide. Our journey through the heart of the nation's capital will take us to some of the most iconic and meaningful landmarks, including the U.S. Capitol, where history has been made for over two centuries, and the Supreme Court, the cornerstone of America's judicial system. We'll also visit the moving Vietnam Veterans Memorial, where we'll have time for reflection, and the stunning World War II Memorial, which honors the sacrifices of those who served during the war. These are just a few of the highlights, there is much more to see and learn as we immerse ourselves in the rich history of this remarkable city. After a day filled with history and inspiration, we'll enjoy an included dinner along the scenic Potomac River, offering breathtaking views of the water and the monuments illuminated against the night sky. It's a perfect ending to a day of discovery.

Day 4

We'll begin our day with a moving visit to Arlington National Cemetery, where America honors the men and women who have valiantly served the nation and made the ultimate sacrifice. We will witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a poignant and solemn ceremony, before continuing to visit the gravesites of John F. Kennedy, his wife Jacqueline, and his brother Robert - each a reminder of the nation's enduring legacy of leadership and sacrifice.

Next, we'll travel along the Parkway to Mount Vernon, the stunning home of George Washington, set along the banks of the Potomac River. As we explore this beautiful estate, it's easy to imagine why Washington chose this peaceful retreat as his home, far from the bustle of public life. Our visit will include a tour of the mansion, as well as a stop at the gravesites of George and Martha Washington, providing a quiet moment to reflect on the nation's first president. After a fulfilling visit to Mount Vernon, we'll enjoy lunch before heading back to the district. The afternoon will be yours to explore Washington, D.C. at your own pace. Whether you wish to revisit the monuments, visit a museum, or enjoy some leisure time on the National Mall, the choice is yours.

Enjoy a complete free day to explore Washington, D.C. at your own pace. There are endless possibilities for discovering more of the capital's many treasures. You might choose to revisit the Smithsonian Institution's museums, located along the National Mall, where you can dive deeper into the exhibits at the National Museum of American History, National Air and Space Museum, or the National Museum of Natural History. For animal lovers, a visit to the National Zoo offers a chance to see the world-famous pandas, among many other fascinating animals. Another popular option is to visit the majestic Washington National Cathedral or the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, both offering stunning architecture and peaceful spaces for reflection. For those interested in a more personalized experience, you may want to arrange a meeting with your Senate or Congressional representatives (please plan this in advance) to learn more about the workings of the U.S. government. If you're looking for a change of pace, hop on the subway for a short ride to the charming historic district of Alexandria, Virginia. Explore the quaint shops, boutiques, and enjoy the delicious dining options that line the Cobblestone streets. The day is yours to shape, with plenty of opportunities to make your own discoveries in this vibrant and historic city.

Today is another full free day to explore Washington, D.C. at your own pace. You spoke, we heard. Lamers has extended its Washington, D.C. Cherry Blossoms Tour by an additional day - just for you. This extra day is totally yours to enjoy as you wish. With so many museums, monuments, and attractions to explore, you'll have even more time to soak in all the history and fun the nation's capital has to offer. Perhaps you'd like to revisit some of the iconic Smithsonian Museums, explore the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence, or even arrange a White House tour (with advance scheduling through your Congressional office). Your dedicated Tour Director will be available once again to help with planning and offer recommendations, ensuring you make the most of your day. Alternatively, take time to explore other neighborhoods like Georgetown or relax along the Tidal Basin, especially beautiful during the cherry blossom season. Whether you're diving deeper into the history of the U.S. Capitol or exploring lesser-known gems, the day is yours to shape. This is your chance to experience Washington, D.C. at your own pace, with plenty of time to make unforgettable memories.

Day 7

We begin our journey westward, leaving behind the sights and sounds of Washington, D.C. We'll head through the scenic state of Maryland, making a stretch break along the way to keep everyone refreshed and comfortable. As we continue our journey, we'll make a stop for an included lunch, giving you the chance to relax, refuel, and reflect on the wonderful memories from the trip. Our day will conclude with an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Maumee, where we'll enjoy a restful evening before continuing the final leg of our journey.

We'll continue our travels westward through Ohio and Indiana, gradually making our way back to familiar territory. Along the way, take in the views and reflect on the incredible experiences shared throughout the trip. As we bid farewell to our fellow travelers and the memories of historic Washington, D.C., we'll arrive home, bringing with us the lasting impressions of our nation's capital - it's monuments, memorials, and rich history.
