Discover the breathtaking beauty of the American Southwest on this 13-day motorcoach journey through some of the nation’s most iconic landscapes.

 

From the rolling Great Plains to the soaring peaks of the Rocky Mountains, your adventure begins with an overnight in Des Moines, Iowa, before heading west to the striking red rock formations of Utah and Arizona.

 

Explore Arches, Bryce Canyon, and Zion National Parks, marvel at thousands of natural sandstone arches, towering spires, and sweeping desert vistas, and take in the panoramic views of the Grand Canyon South Rim.

 

Additional highlights include a Colorado River float trip, a guided tour of Monument Valley, a stop at Four Corners Monument, and the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde, complete with a special Heritage Feast.

 

This journey also celebrates history and culture, with visits to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, Dodge City, and Abilene, Kansas, home of President Eisenhower.

Day 1: Des Moines IA

Your adventure begins as you board the motorcoach and head westward. Watch the familiar Midwest scenery fade as anticipation builds for the wonders ahead.
Tonight, unwind at the Drury Inn & Suites in Des Moines, the perfect start to your journey.Kickback and all!

Day 2: Ogallala, NE

Crossing the wide Great Plains, our first stop is Father Flanagan’s Boys Town in Omaha, where a campus guide shares stories of the children, history, and enduring mission. Walk through Dowd Chapel, the Hall of History, and Father Flanagan House, connecting with the legacy of compassion that has inspired generations. Continue westward to Ogallala for the night at the BW Plus Ogallala, reflecting on the day’s meaningful encounters.

Day 3: GrandJunction

The flat prairie gives way to rising peaks as you enter the Rocky Mountains. Rolling hills transform into jagged summits, sparkling streams, and alpine vistas—a dramatic prelude to the natural wonders ahead. Rest comfortably at the Drury Inn & Suites in Grand Junction, with time to savor the mountain air.

Day 4: Bryce Canyon

Step into a world shaped by millions of years of nature’s artistry at Arches National Park. Thousands of sandstone arches, delicate fins, and colorful formations stretch as far as the eye can see. Lunch today is at Blu Pig for some excellent BBQ. Later, arrive at Bryce Canyon for an evening beneath a starlit sky at Ruby’s Inn, enjoying dinner and the quiet desert serenity.

Day 5: Page, AZ

Awake to the fiery glow of Bryce Canyon’s hoodoos - sandstone spires sculpted by time. Journey onward to Zion National Park, where towering canyon walls rise like sandcastles crowned by the endless blue sky. Explore the park on a reserved tram ride that highlights this incredible landscape. Enjoy lunch today at the Red Rock Grill at Zion Lodge.
Arrive in Page, Arizona, your home for the next two nights, with time to reflect on the awe-inspiring landscapes.

Day 6: Page, AZ

Today, witness the majesty of the Grand Canyon. The Colorado River has carved this vast chasm over millennia, revealing layers of red, orange, and gold rock. Travel along the South Rim with photo stops, then visit the historic Cameron Trading Post, where Navajo artisans offer handmade treasures, before returning to your hotel.

Free time is included to enjoy the sites on your own.

Day 7: Kayenta, AZ

Slow down and soak in the scenery on a Colorado River float trip, gliding past towering red cliffs, hidden coves, and sandy beaches. Enjoy a lively lunch with musical entertainment, then overnight in Kayenta, AZ, located on Navajo land, at the Hampton Inn & Suites.

Day 8: Cortez, CO

Today, journey deep into the heart of the iconic Monument Valley with a guided tour led by Goulding’s Monument Valley experts. Travel among the massive sandstone buttes, mesas, and desert plains, hearing the stories of the land and its Native American heritage. Stop for a delicious lunch at the Stagecoach Restaurant, a local favorite known for hearty Southwestern cuisine and stunning views. After lunch, continue to Four Corners Monument, the only place in the United States where four states - Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico - meet at a single point. Stand with a foot in each state and capture the unique photo opportunity. Return to Kayenta, AZ, for a restful evening at the Hampton Inn, reflecting on a day filled with unforgettable scenery and cultural experiences.

Day 9: Durango, CO

Step back in time at Mesa Verde National Park, where the Pueblo people carved cliff dwellings over 700 years ago. Enjoy a step-on guided tour, led by an expert who brings the history, culture, and architecture of the park to life. After the tour, stop for lunch on your own at the Mesa Verde Café, then enjoy free time to explore additional viewpoints, stroll scenic trails, or shop for local crafts. Later, continue to Durango, CO, for an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn. The evening is yours to explore the charming town, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, or simply relax and reflect on the day’s remarkable sights.

Day 10: Alamosa, CO

After crossing the Continental Divide today, we take a scenic ride through the rugged San Juan and Sangre de Cristo mountain ranges aboard the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Constructed to haul silver and gold ore from the San Juan Mountains, passengers soon realized it was the scenery that was special. The train has operated continuously for more than 125 years. Our overnight will be in Alamosa, CO at the Holiday Inn Express.

Day 11: Salina, KS

Step back in time to the Wild West in Dodge City, once known as the "wickedest city in the West." Explore Boot Hill Cemetery and imagine the frontier life of cowboys, lawmen, and settlers. Travel across Kansas to Salina, where the Hampton Inn awaits for a comfortable evening’s rest.

Day 12: Des Moines

Today, visit Abilene, Kansas, hometown of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and explore the Eisenhower Presidential Library & Museum. Later, return to Des Moines, IA, for your final overnight at the Drury Inn & Suites, reflecting on the landscapes and history encountered along the way.

As familiar terrain returns, carry memories of sweeping canyons, majestic peaks, ancient cliff dwellings, and iconic desert landscapes. This journey through the Grand Canyon + 4 Parks will leave you with stories, photos, and experiences to cherish for a lifetime.
