Go Dutch this spring with Lamers on a relaxing and culturally rich five-day getaway to Iowa, featuring the annual Pella Tulip Time Festival, the historic Amana Colonies, and a variety of scenic, entertaining, and delicious experiences along the way.

 

Our journey begins with an evening Celebration Belle Dinner Cruise, offering a relaxing and picturesque way to enjoy Iowa’s rivers to get an introduction of the area and surroundings. Enjoy famous carved prime rib, marinated chicken breasts, alfredo pasta wtih vegetables, baby red potatoes, chef's salads, rolls, butter, desserts, coffee and tea and more. We overnight near Moline, Illinois at the comfortable Holiday Inn Rock Island.

 

The next day is devoted to the Pella Tulip Festival, a true springtime treasure. Explore Pella’s Historic Village, the Vermeer Windmill, and the Scholte House, watch the lively Street Show, and enjoy the festive parade. Stroll leisurely among thousands of blooming tulips, discover the Dutch Market, and delight in traditional Dutch music, dances, and costumes — all at a comfortable pace designed for seniors to fully enjoy the sights and atmosphere. We overnight tonight at the Drury Inn Coralville.

 

Next, travel to the Amana Colonies, a National Historic Landmark celebrated for its German heritage, hand-crafted goods, and welcoming small-town charm. With a knowledgeable step-on guide, you’ll explore the seven villages, browse artisan shops, and enjoy included lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn, famous for its hearty, traditional fare. Overnight accommodations back at the Holiday Inn Rock Island give us a chance to refresh before tonights dinner event, Circa '21 Dinner Theatre presents "Oklahoma", the first musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, set in the Oklahoma Territory in 1906, follows a romance between the cowboy and the farm girl, whose relationahips is threatened by a dark and dangerous farmhand named Jud Fry. A classic, lively, tuneful, musical FULL of cowboys, farmers, romance and fearless optimism.

 

With comfortable hotels, guided tours, included meals, and plenty of leisure time for shopping, photography, and gentle sightseeing, this tour combines cultural discovery, scenic beauty, and Midwestern charm into a perfect spring getaway, designed with Lamers Tour Members in mind to maximize enjoyment while traveling at a comfortable pace.

 

 

 

 

Day 1 - Moline

Begin your spring adventure aboard a deluxe, climate-controlled motorcoach as you travel through the scenic Midwest with breaks for lunch and stretching along the way. In the evening, we board the Celebration Belle for an eventful dinner cruise along Iowa's rivers. Enjoy a leisurely meal while taking in the picturesque surroundings and gentle rhythm of the water, offering a peaceful and reflective start to our tour. Retreat at the hospitable Holiday Inn Rock Island tonight.

Day 2 - Pella

After a restful night and breakfast, arrive in Pella, Iowa, first with a step-on guided tour of the town and it's traditions. After the tour, we head back into the center where the town is alive with the vibrant colors and traditions of the annual Tulip Time Festival. Spend the day exploring Pella's historic treasures at a comfortable pace, including the Historic Village, the Vermeer Windmill, and the Scholte House. The streets are filled with music, dancing, and the cheerful tapping of wooden shoes, culminating in the colorful parade and lively street performances. Take your time wandering through the tulip gardens and browsing the Dutch Market, enjoying authentic Dutch treats and local artisan crafts. This leisurely day is designed so you can soak in the festival atmosphere without feeling rushed. We enjoy the afternoon parades and dinner on our own before we depart Pella before the evening parades.

Day 3 - Amana

Today, journey to the Amana Colonies, a National Historic Landmark celebrated for its German heritage, welcoming atmosphere, and handcrafted goods. With a step-on guide, you will explore the seven historic villages at a gentle pace, learning about the rich history and traditions that have been preserved for generations. Enjoy time for shopping and exploring the local artisan shops, and savor a hearty included lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn, renowned for its traditional German fare. After, check-in to the Holiday Inn Express Rock Island to freshen up before our evening entertainment, Circa '21 Dinner Theatre, presents "Oklahoma", with all the fixings of a complete meal - of course, dessert included. After our entertaining meal, we head back to the hotel for our final night's rest on this tour.

Day 4 - Home

After a hot breakfast, we make tracks back home and break for an included smorgasbord lunch at the hidden gem, Stockholm Inn in Rockford, IL. After lunch, we make way home, filled with memories of tulips and Northern European culture abound.
