Welcome to the Renaissance! Set in the 1590s, two playwrights, Nick and Nigel Bottom, who are desperate and struggling to find success in the theatrical world.  They are stuck in Shakespeare’s shadow and need a hit of their own.  When a local soothsayer Thomas Nostradamus predicts that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing, and acting all in the same play, the Bottom brothers end up creating the world’s first musical.

This historical, musical comedy is a full fledged satire, filled with hilarious word play, fun historical references, and ridiculous characters.  The play is a big and boisterous comic Shakespearean take on “let’s make a musical”.  This may be the biggest and possibly the silliest choreographed musical that the theatre has ever staged.  The show features hundreds of marvellously silly, brightly-coloured costume pieces that combine Elizabethan period with pop and dozens of glorious wig, rich and vibrant.
