Lake Superior Experience

July 7 - 11, 2027

5 Days / 4 Nights

Discover the beauty, character, and natural wonders of Lake Superior on an unforgettable journey to the Apostle Islands, Bayfield, and Duluth.

Experience the magic of Lake Superior on a journey that blends gentle adventure with comfort and charm. Your tour begins in Ashland, WI at the welcoming Best Western Hotel Chequamegon, where the scent of fresh lake air drifts across the veranda and the water glows in soft evening light. From here, you explore Bayfield and cruise the Apostle Islands, gliding past sandstone cliffs and lighthouses as gulls wheel overhead. A leisurely lunch at the Victorian Rittenhouse Inn and a stop at a scenic local orchard or cidery add warmth, flavor, and a taste of local heritage to your day.

Traveling north, the mood shifts from pastoral to dramatic as you enter Minnesota’s North Shore. At Split Rock Lighthouse, waves crash against the cliffs far below while you enjoy a picnic lunch with the tang of lake breeze in the air. Gooseberry Falls offers the soothing rush of cascading water, and Duluth welcomes you with its lively harbor. A visit to Glensheen Mansion reveals carved staircases, stained glass, and stories preserved in time, while the North Shore Railroad Dome Ride and a visit to the Museum invites you to step inside the golden age of rail travel.

Our accommodation in Duluth, Canal Park Lodge offers a relaxed afternoon on the waterfront, where the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge rises slowly to greet enormous ships sliding into port. As the day winds down, you have time to relax and enjoy the warm glow of the evening reflection on the water while the shoreline drifts by—an unforgettable finale of color, calm, and companionship.

By the time you journey home, you’ll carry memories of lighthouses perched against bright horizons, orchards fragrant with apples, grand mansions, easy walks to waterfalls, and the serene rhythm of the world’s largest freshwater lake. This is Lake Superior at its most inviting—beautiful, unhurried, and wonderfully enriching. Thanks for joining us on a trip the North Shore - see you next time!
