Day 1: Dearborn, MI
Our journey begins this morning as we depart Wisconsin and travel east through Michigan. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery as we pass through charming small towns and picturesque farmland. In the late afternoon, we make a special stop in Marshall, Michigan, for a delightful, included dinner at the historic Schuler's Restaurant, a local favorite since 1909. Known for its inviting atmosphere and traditional Midwestern dishes, Schuler's is the perfect place to gather and enjoy warm hospitality. A great way to celebrate our first night with new friends. After dinner, we continue on to our Dearborn hotel for a restful overnight stay. Get a good night's sleep - tomorrow, we dive into America's history of innovation.
DDay 2: Toronto, ON
After an included breakfast, we spend the morning exploring the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation - a fascinating journey through the spirit of ingenuity that shaped the nation. Enjoy lunch on your own at the museum’s café before departing Dearborn. In the afternoon, we cross the Detroit-Windsor border, presenting our passports and passing through Canadian customs. Welcome to Canada’s Land! We make rest stops along the way before arriving in the vibrant city of Toronto, where we’ll settle in for a two-night stay.
BDay 3: Toronto, ON
This morning begins with a tour of Casa Loma, Toronto's majestic castle on the hill. Stroll through its elegant rooms and gardens, then enjoy lunch on your own on the beautiful grounds.
In the afternoon, discover the fascinating Little Canada Museum, featuring detailed miniature scenes of the country's iconic landmarks.
Tonight, we dine high above the city at the CN Tower's 360 Revolving Restaurant, where an included dinner comes with unforgettable skyline views. Return to our Toronto hotel for the night.
Day 4 Alexandria Bay
After breakfast, we bid farewell to Toronto and follow the scenic Lake Ontario shoreline eastward. The journey offers rolling landscapes, sparkling water views, and a glimpse into charming lakeside towns. We’ll stop along the way for lunch and photo breaks.
By afternoon, we arrive in Alexandria Bay, New York, located along the beautiful St. Lawrence River, and check in early to Capt. Thomson’s Resort - our home for two nights. This evening, enjoy a group dinner at the resort while watching boats drift by in the twilight.
Day 5: 1000 Islands
Today we set sail on the 1000 Islands Boat Cruise, an unforgettable highlight of the trip. As we glide among emerald isles and sparkling blue waters, we’ll stop to explore two famous landmarks - the mysterious Singer Castle and the storybook Boldt Castle, a tribute to love and loss. An included boxed lunch is served onboard as we cruise. After returning to shore, the evening is free to explore Alexandria Bay’s quaint shops, waterfront restaurants, or simply relax and enjoy the view from the resort.
B, LDay 6: Rochester, NY
After a hearty breakfast, we set out to explore the Antique Boat Museum, a true gem for lovers of history and nautical craftsmanship. Stroll among beautifully restored vessels, from elegant wooden launches to classic motorboats, and enjoy exhibits that celebrate the rich boating heritage of the region. Learn about the stories behind these historic vessels and imagine the lakeside adventures of a bygone era.
Next, we journey south toward New York’s scenic Finger Lakes region, a land of rolling hills, sparkling waters, and vineyards that seem to stretch endlessly along the shoreline. Here, a special treat awaits - an included winery visit with tasting and lunch at Ventosa Vineyards, perched on a bluff overlooking serene Seneca Lake. Sip a glass of local wine, savor a delicious lunch, and take in the panoramic views of the lake and vineyards, a perfect moment to relax, share laughter, and make memories.
After our visit, we continue to our overnight hotel in Rochester, New York, where you can unwind and reflect on a day filled with history, scenic beauty, and the timeless pleasures of lakeside life.
Day 7: Jamestown, NY
After a satisfying breakfast, we begin the day at the George Eastman Museum, the historic home of the visionary Kodak founder. Step inside and be transported through time as you explore the elegant galleries, beautifully landscaped gardens, and fascinating photography collections that showcase both the art and science of capturing life’s moments. From vintage cameras to rare photographs, the museum offers a glimpse into the creativity and innovation that changed the way we see the world.
By midday, we continue west to the awe-inspiring Niagara Falls, one of the planet’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Feel the mist on your face and listen to the thunderous roar of the cascading waters as you take in sweeping views from the lookout points. Whether you pause for photos, stroll along the riverwalk, or simply soak in the majesty of the falls, this is a moment to remember.
Next, we journey to Buffalo, New York, for a hearty lunch at the original Anchor Bar, the birthplace of the famous Buffalo Wing. Enjoy the lively atmosphere, savor the signature flavors, and share laughter and stories with your fellow travelers.
After lunch, we continue to Jamestown, New York, a town rich in history and charm, where we check in for a one-night stay at the DoubleTree by hilton Jamestown. The evening is yours to relax at your hotel, take a gentle stroll through the town, or enjoy a quiet moment reflecting on the incredible sights of the day - from the innovation of Kodak to the grandeur of Niagara Falls. Tomorrow, it's all about laughter!
Day 8: Beechwood, OH
After a hearty breakfast, laughter takes center stage as we step into the colorful world of Lucille Ball! Our day begins with a Lucy Town Tour, where we wander the streets of Jamestown and see the landmarks that shaped the life and career of this beloved comedy icon. Hear stories of Lucy’s early days, her rise to stardom, and the enduring legacy she left in television history.
Next, we visit the Lucy-Desi Museum, where memorabilia, costumes, and personal artifacts bring the beloved "I Love Lucy" moments to life.
Then, prepare to be delighted at the National Comedy Center, an interactive museum that celebrates the art of humor from past to present. Explore exhibits that tickle the imagination, evoke nostalgia, and inspire laughter for all ages - from classic slapstick to modern comedy.
Midday brings an included lunch at the Tropicana, yes, just like the Tropicana Club! Share stories and smiles with new friends while enjoying a relaxing meal before continuing westward.
Our journey then takes us to Beechwood, Ohio, for our final overnight stay at the Drury Inn. Take the evening to unwind, reflect on the laughter, sights, and shared experiences of the past several days, and savor the friendships and memories made during this unforgettable Great Lakes adventure.
Day 9: Home
After breakfast, it’s time to begin our journey home - hearts full, cameras brimming with memories, and laughter echoing from the many shared adventures. From the ingenious innovations at the Ford Museum to the grandeur of Niagara Falls, from the romantic castles of the 1000 Islands to the sparkling vineyards of the Finger Lakes, and from the playful charm of Lucy’s world to the friendships made along the way, this tour has been a celebration of discovery, joy, and connection.
Though our Great Lakes adventure comes to a close, the memories, smiles, and friendships will linger long after we return home - a perfect encore to a journey full of wonder and delight around these two very Great Lakes, indeed.
