Every March, the Gainesville Raceway hosts one of drag racing's biggest and most historic events. This is a big deal for Gainesville every Spring—heart-pounding, earth-shaking power, accelerated speeds, lightening quick finishes and nitro-flames.
Historically, this track is one of the fastest on the National Hot Rod Association circuit and has a long history of barrier-breaking runs. Full pro categories race here: Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, plus sportsman and other support classes. There are four days of qualifications and eliminations from Thursday to Sunday.
Lamers' reserved seats on Sunday are near the "start" of the quarter-mile track. The Midway opens at 8:00 a.m.
Ear protection is recommended. Soft-sided coolers (14x14x14) are allowed as long as they're carrying non-alcoholic beverages. Lamers motorcoach leaves the Gainesville Raceway at 4 p.m.
Be advised that the bus will be stopping at all three pick-up points (Wildwood, Inverness and Ocala) for this and all tours.
