We will begin the day with a comfortable drive to Madison to visit the University of Wisconsin Geology Museum for a guided tour. This engaging and easy-to-explore museum features fossils, minerals, meteorites, dinosaur skeletons, and exhibits highlighting Wisconsins geological history. Its a wonderful way to start the day by exploring the natural history of our region.
After our morning at the museum, we will enjoy an included lunch at the beloved Essen Haus. Known for its classic German comfort food, we are having family style Sauerbraten, Baked Chicken, Königsberger Klopse, Spaetzle, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Sauerkraut, and Vegetable of the day, with Apple Strudel for dessert.
In the afternoon, we will travel to Cave of the Mounds, one of Wisconsins most impressive natural attractions. During a guided cave tour, you will explore underground passageways filled with stunning rock formations including stalactites, stalagmites, flowstone, and crystal formations. The cave is well lit with paved walkways and railings, making it accessible while still feeling adventurous and awe inspiring. The cave maintains a cool, consistent temperature year round, providing a refreshing contrast to the spring weather above ground.
