Day 1: Fairbanks
Transfer to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to board your evening flight to Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon arrival, transportation is provided to the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Fairbanks, where you settle in for your first overnight stay in the Last Frontier. Take the evening to rest and prepare for the adventures ahead.
Day 2: Fairbanks
After an included breakfast, explore the heart of Fairbanks on a guided city sightseeing tour. Highlights include Golden Heart Park, Creamer’s Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge, the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, and the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitor Center, featuring world-class exhibits on Alaska’s natural and cultural history.
Next, we board the Discovery III Sternwheeler for a fully narrated journey along the Chena and Tanana Rivers- the only authentic sternwheeler operating in Alaska. See floatplanes take off, meet sled dogs, witness the "wedding of the rivers", and explore the Chena Indian Village with knowledgeable Alaskan guides who provide insight into Athabascan culture.
Lunch is included at the Discovery Dining Hall, served family-style with hearty stew, roasted vegetables, salads, brownies, iced tea, and coffee.
The afternoon features a visit to the Museum of the North, the only research and teaching museum in Alaska, offering fascinating exhibits on natural history and the region’s people.
Return to the hotel for a restful evening at your leisure.
Day 3: Denali
Travel from Fairbanks to Denali, arriving in time for some free time to stretch your legs and enjoy the surroundings.
In the evening, experience the Cabin Nite Dinner Theater at Denali Park Village, held in an authentic log cabin at Miners Plaza. Join Denali heroine Fannie Quigley and a cast of characters in a true-to-life Gold Rush tale of adventure in early 1900s Alaska. Enjoy a family-style meal alongside the performance.

Day 4: Denali
Today is dedicated to the spectacular Denali National Park. On the Tundra Wilderness Tour, travel 43 miles into pristine wilderness while keeping watch for moose, bears, and other wildlife. The tour includes scenic stops and photo opportunities, as well as an included snack, and offers a deeper understanding of Alaska’s breathtaking landscapes and unique ecosystems. Return to the lodge for an evening at leisure.
BDay 5: Talkeetna
Board the Gold Star Train at Denali Rail Depot for a scenic journey through Alaska’s permafrost and rugged wilderness aboard the luxury dome rail car.
Arrive in Talkeetna, a historic and picturesque town known for its mountain views.
Overnight at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, with mountain view rooms and on-site dining.
Day 6: Talkeetna
After breakfast, enjoy a local Talkeetna city tour, followed by a Wilderness Jet Boat Excursion along 20 miles of the Susitna River. Onboard naturalists provide insight into Alaska’s flora and fauna. Visit a Dena’ina Indian encampment and a historic trappers’ cabin, see local furs, learn traditional trapping methods, and discover which plants were used by Native Alaskans for cooking and medicine. A deli lunch is included during the two-hour tour.
The evening is free for personal exploration and dining at the lodge.
Day 7: Seward
Travel south along Parks Highway, passing the scenic Matanuska-Susitna Valley, known for its vast forests, rivers, and alpine peaks.
Pause to see Knik Glacier before visiting the Musk Ox Farm, home to this ancient ice-age species. Learn about these remarkable animals and the luxurious qiviut fiber, softer than cashmere and eight times warmer than wool. Continue to Seward, passing the stunning Turnagain Arm and Resurrection Bay, the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.
Overnight at Seward Windsong Lodge, with on-site dining options and spectacular natural surroundings.
Day 8: Seward
After breakfast, enjoy a morning cruise of Kenai Fjords National Park aboard a spacious catamaran designed for optimal wildlife viewing. Keep an eye out for humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, puffins, and sea lions as you approach Tidewater Glacier, where you may witness ice calving into the ocean.
A freshly prepared brunch is included, and binoculars are provided. The tour lasts approximately six hours, after which you return to the lodge for a relaxing evening on your own.
Day 9: Anchorage
Today is an unforgettable day in the heart of Alaska’s wilderness. We begin with a Wilderness Dog Sled Tour in Seward, where you’ll meet champion Iditarod musher Mitch Seavey and his incredible team of sled dogs. Feel the excitement as you cuddle the energetic puppies, hear the joyful barks of the seasoned dogs, and even dress up as a musher for an authentic experience. Glide across the snowy or icy trails on a 2-mile mush, taking in the crisp, fresh air, the scent of pine and spruce, and the panoramic views of mountains and forests surrounding you. Along the way, your guide shares insider stories of Iditarod training, racing adventures, and the unique personalities of these remarkable animals.
After this once-in-a-lifetime encounter, we board the luxury dome rail car for a scenic journey to Anchorage, traveling through the rugged beauty of Alaska’s landscape one last time. Watch the snow-capped peaks, rolling tundra, and rushing rivers glide by from the comfort of your panoramic windows, and reflect on the memories of the past days - glaciers, wildlife, and wilderness adventures that will stay with you forever.
Arriving in Anchorage in the evening, check in at The Lakefront Anchorage, where your mountain-view room offers a relaxing retreat. The hotel’s full-service restaurant and bar are available if you wish to enjoy a quiet dinner on your own, perhaps sipping a local craft beer or warming up with a hot cup of coffee after a day of Alaska’s crisp air and thrilling experiences.

Day 10: MSP
This morning, enjoy one final breakfast at The Lakefront Anchorage, where the calm lake views and crisp mountain air offer a gentle, memorable farewell to Alaska. Take a moment to soak in those last sights—the reflection of the sky on the water, the distant peaks, the quiet rhythm of this northern haven—before boarding your transfer to the airport. As your plane lifts off, watch the sprawling wilderness fade beneath you, carrying home not just photos, but the sounds of calving glaciers, the scent of spruce forests, and the unforgettable stories of the Last Frontier.
Upon landing at MSP, your Lamers coach will be waiting to bring you to your hotel for one final night. The evening is yours to relax, unwind, and ease back into familiar surroundings after your time in America’s 49th state. Day 11: Homeward
After an included breakfast at the hotel, we gather once more and board our comfortable coach for the final stretch of our journey back to Wisconsin. The ride home offers time to reminisce about glaciers and wildlife, river cruises and rail journeys, and all the unforgettable moments shared along the way. As the familiar scenery rolls into view, we return not just with luggage, but with stories, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime. Welcome home - until the next adventure!
