Ringling Museums and Gardens

Step into the legacy of one of America’s most fascinating couples at The Ringling, a cultural treasure that celebrates the lives of John and Mable Ringling—visionaries who rose from modest Midwestern roots to become prominent patrons of the arts and co-founders of the world-famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Your visit includes access to several remarkable attractions on the estate:

  • The Museum of Art, featuring an exceptional collection of European masterpieces and rotating exhibitions.

  • The whimsical Circus Museum, where you’ll discover historic costumes, parade wagons, posters, and memorabilia from the golden age of the American circus.

  • The Tibbals Learning Center, home to an expansive miniature circus model that brings the grandeur of the Big Top to life.

  • The beautifully landscaped Bayfront Gardens, offering serene views of Sarasota Bay.

At 1:00 p.m., enjoy a self-guided tour of the first floor of Ca’ d’Zan, the Ringlings’ lavish winter residence. This 56-room mansion—whose name means “House of John” in Venetian dialect—was inspired by the grand palazzos lining Venice’s canals. With its soaring ceilings, ornate details, and waterfront views, Ca’ d’Zan is a stunning tribute to Mable’s love of Venetian Gothic architecture and old-world elegance.

For lunch on your own, choose between The Grillroom and Mable’s Café, both offering a range of fresh, seasonal fare. Don’t forget to stop by the museum gift shop for unique art-inspired souvenirs and circus-themed treasures.
