On the way, well pause for lunch on your own at a local favorite restaurant, enjoying the sights and sounds of small-town charm before continuing southeast. Tonight, we arrive in Chillicothe, Ohio, where you can relax and unwind in comfort at your hotel, resting up for the festive days ahead.
The next morning, our journey continues with full-day travel to Williamsburg, Virginia. Along the way, we stop in Richmond at the historic St. Johns Church, where youll meet your step-on guide for a captivating guided tour. Step inside this storied sanctuary and feel the weight of history in the vaulted ceilings and sun-dappled walls, and experience a rare reenactment of Patrick Henrys famous Give me liberty, or give me death! speech, a moment that will stir the heart and imagination. After this moving experience, we continue to Williamsburg, where youll check into the Embassy Suites for a two-night stay, enjoy the Managers Reception, and gather for an included Welcome Dinner. The evening is capped off with a ride through the Celebration of Lights at Newport News Park, where vibrant holiday displays, glowing arches, and sparkling animated scenes set the night aglow.
The true heart of the tour unfolds the next day at Colonial Williamsburg. Following a full hotel breakfast, your local guide brings history to life on a walking tour through streets lined with brick buildings, cobblestone paths, and towering evergreens adorned with pine, fruit, and greenery. Visit the Governors Palace, resplendent in holiday décor, and learn how colonial Virginians celebrated Christmas. Pause at Merchants Square for time to explore charming shops, boutiques, and cafés. A great opportunity to pick up some lovely gifts and stocking stuffers. For lunch, we dine at Roccos Smokehouse who offers a hearty Southern buffet, rich with regional flavors, before returning to the hotel to refresh for the evening festivities and another highlight of the trip. As night falls, the streets come alive for the Grand Illumination. Candlelight flickers in windows, bonfires cast a warm glow, and fife and drum music fills the crisp air. Costumed interpreters stroll the streets while fireworks erupt over the Governors Palace, painting the sky with dazzling color and sound. Its a multi-sensory experience of history and holiday magic youll never forget. Dinner this evening is on your own at nearby favorites like Cracker Barrel or Golden Corral, allowing you to dine and explore at your own pace.
On Day 4, after breakfast, we journey to Jamestown Settlement for a guided tour with our local expert. Step aboard reconstructed ships, wander the fortified settlement, and imagine life in the earliest English colony. Enjoy lunch on your own at Jamestown Café, then continue to Yorktown, VA, for a guided visit to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. After an inluded breakfast, we begin our journey home. However, the adventure is not over yet. We stop at the mountaintop estate of Monticello, the elegant home of Thomas Jefferson. On a guided tour, you'll step inside rooms filled with innovation and intellect - Jefferson's study, dining room, and parlor - while panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains stretch beyond the windows. Included Lunch at Michie Tavern offers a warm colonial welcome, with the comforting aromas of homestyle Virginia fare served in an 18th-century setting. Later, we pause in Beckley, West Virginia at a local food hall, where Appalacian crafts and regional flavors provide a relaxing dinner stop before our final overnight in Chillcothe.

Day 1: Chillicothe
We depart the Wisconsin area this morning, settling into our comfortable motorcoach as we begin our holiday journey east. Along the way, we’ll pause for lunch on your own, giving everyone time to stretch, relax, and enjoy a meal before continuing on. This evening, we arrive in Chillicothe, Ohio, where we check into our hotel for a restful overnight stay. Settle in, unwind, and look forward to the colonial Christmas magic awaiting us in Williamsburg.
Day 2: Williamsburg
After an included breakfast, we head out for a full day of travel as we continue our journey toward Virginia, with comfortable stops along the way to stretch and refresh. This afternoon, we arrive in Richmond at historic St. John’s Church, where we meet our step-on guide for a fascinating guided tour of this sacred and significant site. It was here in 1775 that Patrick Henry delivered his powerful words, "Give me liberty, or give me death!" We’ll enjoy a rare and stirring reenactment of this famous speech, bringing Revolutionary history vividly to life.
After our inspiring visit, we continue to Williamsburg, where we check into the Embassy Suites for a two-night stay. Upon arrival, enjoy the hotel’s Manager’s Reception before gathering for an included dinner at the hotel.
This evening, we head out for the Celebration of Lights at Newport News Park, a festive riding tour through one of the area’s most spectacular holiday light displays. From the comfort of our coach, enjoy hundreds of illuminated scenes and sparkling displays set against the night sky. We return to the hotel at approximately 9:00 PM to rest up for another exciting day ahead.
Day 3: Williamsburg
A full breakfast awaits us at the hotel this morning before we depart for the heart of history - Colonial Williamsburg. With our knowledgeable local guide leading the way, the 18th century unfolds before us as we stroll through the beautifully preserved Historic Area. Brick pathways, costumed interpreters, and buildings adorned with natural wreaths of fruit and greenery set the scene. We visit the stately Governor’s Palace, elegantly decorated for the season, and learn how colonial Virginians celebrated Christmastime.
We pause at Merchant’s Square for time on your own to explore the charming shops, galleries, and cafés tucked along this historic district.
The afternoon continues with lunch at Rocco’s Smokehouse, where we enjoy a hearty Southern buffet filled with regional favorites.
We return to the hotel in the late afternoon to refresh before an unforgettable evening. As dusk settles, we make our way back to Colonial Williamsburg for the spectacular Grand Illumination. At 7:00 PM, fireworks light up the sky above the Governor’s Palace while fife and drum music echoes through the streets. Candlelight, bonfires, and festive performances create a magical colonial Christmas atmosphere unlike any other.
Following the celebration, we return to the hotel where dinner is on your own. Nearby favorites such as Cracker Barrel or Golden Corral offer relaxed options to enjoy at your own pace before settling in for the night.
Day 4: Williamsburg
After an included breakfast at the hotel, we set out for a day of history and holiday cheer. Our first stop is Jamestown Settlement, where our local guide brings America’s first permanent English colony to life. Explore reconstructed ships, fortifications, and colonial homes while learning about the lives of settlers and Native Americans who shaped early Virginia.
Following the tour, enjoy lunch on your own at Jamestown Cafe, a perfect chance to savor regional flavors and relax before our next historic adventure. We then travel to Yorktown, VA, where we visit the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. As the afternoon fades, we continue on to Norfolk, VA, for the festive WinterFest on the Wisconsin, a dazzling holiday light display aboard a floating riverboat. Following the celebration, we gather for a group meal, sharing stories and raising a toast to our incredible day. After dinner, we return to the hotel to rest and reflect on this very special 250th USA Christmas.
Day 5: Chillcothe
After included breakfast, we bid farewell to Williamsburg - but the experiences are far from over. We begin our scenic journey west through the rolling Virginia countryside. Our first stop is the magnificent Monticello, the mountaintop home of Thomas Jefferson. On our guided 45-minute tour, we step inside the mind of a founding father exploring the elegant parlor, dining room, and Jefferson’s private study, filled with inventions, artifacts, and personal touches that reflect his brilliance and curiosity. Large windows frame sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, especially beautiful in the crisp December air.
Following our visit, we enjoy a colonial-style lunch at Michie Tavern, where the aroma of fried chicken, savory meats, warm biscuits, and homestyle sides welcomes us into a cozy 18th-century setting. It’s a hearty and authentic Virginia dining experience that perfectly complements our historic morning.
This afternoon, we continue our journey through the Appalachian region, stopping in Beckley, West Virginia for dinner on your own at a fabulous local food hall marketplace. Here you’ll find a variety of freshly prepared regional foods along with artisan shops featuring handcrafted treasures from across the Mountain State - a perfect place to browse, stretch your legs, and enjoy a relaxed meal at your own pace.
Late evening, we arrive in Chillicothe, Ohio for our final overnight stay. Settle in and reflect on a day rich with presidential history, mountain scenery, and warm hospitality as our Colonial Christmas adventure begins its journey home.
Day 6: Home
After breakfast at the hotel, we continue our journey back home, carrying the warmth and wonder of a Colonial Christmas. Along the way, we’ll make comfort stops and a lunch break on your own, giving everyone a chance to relax and savor the last moments of the trip.
Reflect on candlelit streets, festive wreaths, historic reenactments, and the breathtaking Grand Illumination fireworks.
