John McGivern at the CAL Center

John McGivern’s show, Summer Stories at the CAL Center in Reedsburg

We start the day with an included lunch of beef pot roast, roast chicken, baby red potatoes, roast seasonal vegetables, tossed garden salad, and a dessert at

Moose Jaw Pizza & Dells Brewing Co. in Wisconsin Dells.

Following lunch we head to the show, where John will take us through the summer cycle of Memorial Day, school’s end, the 4th of July, summer camp, family vacation, the dog days of August, and the dreaded arrival of Labor Day when it all comes to an inevitable end with the return to school.

John’s brilliant talent for comedy and storytelling will send you into summertime feeling like a kid again. John is best known for his Emmy-award winning work on PBS. His one-man-shows, The Early Stories of John McGivern, Midsummer Night McGivern, and John McGivern’s Home for the Holidays tell the stories of being the third born of six kids in a working-class Irish Catholic family in the Midwest.

His stories are personal, funny, touching and familiar.

We will stop for dinner on your own on the way back.
