Chocolate & Lucy Tour

Chocolate & Lucy Tour

Presentation of "The making of "I Love Lucy" television show!

View Dates & Book

Our day begins in Buffalo Grove, Illinois at the Long Grove Confectionery Outlet and experience the one-hour walking tour of the facility (handicap accessible). You will begin in the lobby theater with a video on chocolate and then watch the production areas through the window. You will have time to shop in the Outlet store.

Our next stop is the First Draft Restaurant in Grayslake for an included buffet lunch with chicken skewers over rice, lettuce salad, roasted vegetables, rolls & butter and for dessert vanilla ice cream with fudge and cookies.

We then travel to the University Center of Lake County for the one-hour presentation by local humorist Todd Hunt. He adds a personal and engaging touch, with clips from the "I Love Lucy Show" with Lucille Ball that will appeal to fans. The educational component (history of the show, actors, memorable moments) balances well with the lighthearted and humorous theme. You will journey back to the golden age of television, with slides, audio and video clips to reveal how this classic was created. Discover how it grew out of Lucy's radio program, "My Favorite Husband." Explore production techniques pioneered by Desi Arnaz, including the three-camera concept. And delve into the life stories of Lucy, Desi and cast members Vivian Vance and William Frawley (who were not the original choices for Ethel and Fred Mertz). Remember the candy factory? Stomping grapes? Vitameatavegamin? These episodes all have fascinating back stories that will surely bring a few laughs.

Our final stop is to the Sock Monkey Museum in Long Grove. Take a tour and see the World's Largest Handmade Sock Monkey Collection as certified by Guiness World Records! Learn about the socks used to make the monkeys and the history of socks through the ages. Browse the gift shop and find many unique gifts. As a special keepsake, each guest will receive a Sock Monkey Christmas Ball ornament to add to your holiday decor.

This day trip is an enjoyable and fun-filled experience for those fond of "I Love Lucy" and looking to indulge in chocolate, classic comedy and good company.
